Architecture and Urban Design
This concept was for the design of a rectory for St. Thomas More University Parish, a project which offered insight into the personal life and design needs of a priest as a community leader and mentor. As students, we were challenged to design a space for him that would offer privacy and solitude for working on his teachings but that also could function as a hub for hosting visitors and other church leaders. The design solution includes a breezeway that separates the private residence of the priest from the more active entertaining spaces, maintaining the dual function of the house. Throughout this project, I was fortunate enough to have regular design input from the priest, as he followed our progress and offered his feedback during project checkpoints. This process of soliciting important design input by connecting directly with the user and collaboratively working through multiple iterations is what initially sparked my passion for human-centered design.
